Our present selves can be pretty heavy handed in putting their desires center stage. If that includes having a big bowl of ice cream in the middle of a 'no sugar diet', you might have a scrap on your hands. Achieving your goals must matter enough to you to ensure you follow through.
A great way to work with your present self in setting and achieving your goals is to make sure you're well prepared. Write up your values and priorities for achieving your goal (WHY you want to achieve this) and put together your personal development plan.

Outside influences can often add challenges on our path to achieving goals. The best revenge is to go in prepared for any eventuality, in your mental attitude at least. Put a plan in place to deal with any possible difficulties that you recognize you might encounter. And, for the pitfalls you don't see coming, this adage from the serenity prayer is perfect: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
An example of the challenges of outside influences might be: You are following a special diet, and traveling. It seems no grocery outlet stock the foods you need.
Two ways to manage this challenge could be: 1. Take your special foods with you; 2. Adapt to the best case scenario - What would the next best food choices be, given your options?
Bolster your self motivation and resist the urge to entirely throw your goals away due to a difficult circumstance. It's the 'adapters' who survive.
Outside influences can also provide us with timely lessons, if we look for them. Ask, and expect, the creative energy of life to assist you in every circumstance.

Some people try setting and achieving goals all on their own. Of course you are ultimately responsible and are the only one that can put the work in for yourself. However... listening to the wisdom and ideas from others, and having a support person, team, or community can do wonders. In a healthy society people work together, creating more power for all when moving in the same
direction.
As with many of you, one of my goals this year is to build my fitness and vitality. And, I'm looking forward to hearing insights at the Winter of Wellness Summit. It's a free virtual event to empower us with practical tools and inspiration to create true wellness in all areas of our lives.
These are just some of the experts sharing their latest insights, practices, tools and advice for optimum health: Joan Borysenko, Bernie Siegel, Harville Hendrix, Dan Millman, Marianne Williamson, John Gray, Bruce Lipton. (Bruce Lipton and Marianne Williamson are two of my favorites)
The Summit happens January 9th - March 22nd - and you can listen in live via your phone line or computer to as many sessions as you'd like.
Register for freee at Winter of Wellness. (Never mind the misnomer for those of us in the southern
hemisphere enjoying summer :)
