"Inspired Personal Development" be the change you want to see in the world...

Go Givers Sell More

Although the title of Go Givers Sell More by Bob Burg and John David Mann indicates that it's about selling, don't jump to the conclusion that it is only for salespeople. It most definitely is not. This personal development book carries a message on the law of giving and receiving that is for anyone and everyone.

And I received my first lesson about this book from the author: I sent Bob Burg an invitation to post a personal development book review.

What I received back was a complimentary copy of the Go-Givers... truly in the spirit of the book!

The essence of Go-givers is this: the more you give, the more you have. At first glance this principle may seem to fly in the face of reason. But it makes great sense. It's just a different approach to what most people are used to.

Consider the difference between predictable classic Newtonian physics and the unpredictable world of quantum physics.

Newtons laws would be more likely to sensibly declare that 1+1 equal a definitive 2.

However, quantum physics accounts for the reality of many situations when 1 + 1 is greater than 2.

A simple example is a husband and wife joining together and having children!

This paradigm difference is kin to the way many people think about 'getting more' versus the enriching law of giving and receiving that Bob Burg and David Mann delve into here.

The message of Go Givers has universal appeal by exploring five powerful life laws that play important subordinating roles in the law of giving and receiving:

  1. The law of value - This life law talks about your true worth, and how it is determined in relation to the value of your giving and what you are receiving as payment.

  2. The law of compensation - You've probably heard it said that the more people you help, the more wealth you will have. This is the basis of compensation.

  3. The law of influence - The authors explain about how, when you place other people's interests before your own, that impacts your own sphere of influence.

  4. The law of authenticity - This is all about the tremendous value of giving of yourself... basically, the worth in being who you are.

    "What you have most to offer others,

    you have to offer least of all through your words;

    in greater part through what you do;

    but in greatest part through who you are."

  5. The law of receptivity - Being open to receiving begins with your effective giving.

    This quote is a lovely illustration of the natural receptivity inherent in law of giving and receiving:

    "At this instant, all over the globe, all of humanity is

    breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide.

    So is the rest of the animal kingdom.

    And right now, at this instant, all over the globe,

    the billions and billions of organisms of the plant kingdom

    are doing the exact opposite -

    they're breathing in carbon dioxide and breathing out oxygen.

    Their giving is our receiving, and our giving is their receiving."

    Pindar from Go Givers Sell More by Bob Burg and John David Mann

Personal development books like Go Givers are exceptional in that they have universal relevance.

I started sharing it's brilliance with many diverse groups of people, when I was just a few chapters into reading it. It's message is easy to appreciate, and just as easy to see how it can impart value to our lives.

Check it out, and share it with friends.
