Metanoia, Renovating the House of Your Spirit

by Russell Sturgess

A Spiritual GPS
Imagine having a spiritual GPS to guide you through the challenges of familial and cultural conditioning, and a map that reveals the changing topography of relationships and possessions. How about a weather channel that prepares you to negotiate the seemingly unpredictable nature of justice, time and fate.

Who wouldn't want a clearly displayed sign at the cross-road of life that removes all ambiguity regarding where each path leads? And when, in due course, you encounter the passage through the dark night of the soul, imagine a tour guide that plainly explaines how to safely make your way through the darkness. F

inally, passing from the darkness into the light, imagine your spiritual GPS directing your passage through the realms of light eventually bringing you back to your home.

Everyman's Journey
This map is a template for Everyman's journey and throughout the millennia this knowledge has been made available to mankind in many forms, including drama, prose and art. In his book Metanoia, Renovating the House of Your Spirit, Australian born author Russell Sturgess reveals a sacred map, a spiritual GPS if you will, that has remained hidden for centuries.

Due to his unique personal journey through life, Russell possesses a distinctive viewpoint that enabled him to see a reoccurring pattern in three historically diverse sources. The ability to identify the same spiritual map from three different perspectives gives unprecedented clarity to the journey to be encountered by Everyman.

Russell brings together three very strange bed-fellows, ancient temple culture, the Marseille Tarot and the Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. He suggests that they each possess a template of transformation that when super-imposed reveals a detailed description for achieving enlightenment, or what Christians would describe as atonement.

The first two chapters in the book set the scene, presenting Russell's rationale for his theory. The remaining twenty-two chapters use the sequence of the twenty-two images of the major arcana of the Marseille Tarot as the template for revealing the sacred map.

Your Spiritual Tour Guide
Russell's profound appreciation of the journey makes it possible for him to explain how a spiritual map, that is hundreds of years old, has relevancy today. Readers will find themselves clearly identifying where they have been on the journey so far, and inspired to identify where they are now.

Naturally, knowing what's next becomes just as important. Most significantly, the book presents the whole map, which means that readers can gain context for their life's experience. As with any journey, there is comfort in knowing where you are going, and the sort of conditions that could be encountered along the way. There is also comfort in knowing that Everyman is walking the same path, and that we are not as alone as we imagine.

If you're feeling lost on your spiritual journey or have found yourself at life's cross-roads uncertain which way to go or in the dark night of the soul, then this is in one tour guide you must read.

Personal Spiritual Development

I had to look up the word Metanoia to find out that it basically means a 'breaking down' followed by a positive re-building or healing... a renovation, like you say!

This sounds like a wonderful guidebook for personal spiritual development.

The concept of traveling the spiritual journey with the major arcana of the Marseille Tarot... paralleling the journey of the Tarot's fool/hero with the spiritual journey of enlightenment I expect, is reason enough to check this book out :).

Thank you for sharing.
