Preventing Child Sex Abuse

by Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD
(Phoenix, AZ)

This child sex abuse prevention guide is well researched and professionally presented.

"If I'd Only Known...Sexual Abuse In or Out of the Family: A Guide to Prevention" by Dorothy M Neddermeyer, PhD, is full of tell tale signs and symptoms to look for, and how to prevent further harm.

The sexual abuse of children can happen with most any youngster by most any adult. But some children are especially vulnerable to being abused and some adults are particularly driven to violating them.

Predatory adults threaten families and communities, violating safe havens, and alerting us to the need to be informed, vigilant, and clear about shielding children from harm. This timely guide book is an important step in that direction by alerting parents, leaders, and caregivers to common dangers and calculated grooming that can threaten the well being of children in the home and community.

This book is eminently practical and filled with a lot of common sense checks and reminders, the kind of guidance detail that can come from the author's experience as a therapist. There are seven compelling parent approved and child tested techniques that will thwart the majority of would-be sex offenders in or out of the home.

With specific examples of how abuse occurs, the author expands her solid overview of the issues in the first half of the book. The last half is devoted to what to do concerns and checklists. This is a guide to child sex abuse prevention that also includes a nice bibliography for additional in-depth child abuse support.

Preventing Child Abuse
by: Cath

Thank you to Dorothy M. Neddermeyer for writing this guide on preventing abuse of children.

This is a tough enough topic for many adults to discuss, so you can only imagine the challenges children have in facing it and talking about it. Certainly the more aware and educated we all are, the more likely we will be able to help.

Furthering our own understanding, and helping others, are always great avenues for personal development.
