Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy

by Sarah Ban Breathnach

The Simple Abundance book is an empowering and encouraging read from day one.

As Sarah explains in her foreword, the act of writing it delivered the same sort of grace in her life as it offers the reader. She admits to having begun the work as a somewhat 'frazzled, depressed, worn to a raveling' woman.

The ache deep in her heart of her own spiritual longings and authentic expression drove her forward.

Day by day, the right words found their way onto paper, and their messages wove meaning into the manifestation of her own daily life.

The writing style is easy to adopt as a welcome ritual of daily inspiration.

Each single day is comprised of a catchy title, followed by a thought provoking, entertaining, and enriching quote, and completed with an essay on the topic.

The whole message of the book is as the subtitle 'A Daybook of Comfort and Joy', suggests.

It reiterates in 365 delightful and various ways... we are all right, we are worthy of being fully loved by everyone, including ourselves, and the creator. All the answers we need to live a life of happiness and fulfillment, are accessible.

This quote from November 15th is a beautiful summary of the essence of the book to me:

"All you need is deep within you waiting to unfold and reveal itself.
All you have to do is be still and take the time to seek
for what is within, and you will surely find it."

Eileen Caddy

Another date that gifted me with a simple noteworthy observation was Aug 3rd. For this date Ban Breathnach detailed 'the universal to do list', which I suspect most all of us can relate to.

The list is comprised of what seems to be the mundane weekly tasks that take up so much of our time; invoices, correspondence, dry cleaners, banking, appointments, laundry, cooking, cleaning...

My copy of Simple Abundance is packed away at present as I am 'between houses'. I wasn't surprised to find another copy of the book here on the library shelf of the home where I'm staying.

It had obviously been a gift as there was a delightful heartwarming note inside. This gives a good indication of the joy it has brought to many, and the resulting inspiration to share it with others:

"At long last - I promised the enclosed on your birthday.
Simple Abundance is the book given to the 3 of us in Mt Isa.
I've been reading it day by day, as have the others.
We can't part with it, so here is your very own copy.
It's a 'Be Good To You' book. Thank you for who you are."
